On 9 August 2026, a tree plantation programme was held at the former residential area of Rajshahi University.

The programme was jointly organized by Rotary Club Banani, Dhaka and the Life, Nature and Environment Research Club (LINERC).

A total of 100 tree saplings were planted. These included 50 neem trees and 50 arjun trees.

Rotary Club Banani sponsored the tree saplings for the programme. LINERC took responsibility for the other necessary arrangements. This included fertilizer, tree supports, labour, and the planting work.

The programme focused on increasing greenery on the university campus. It also aimed to promote the use of native tree species.

Neem and arjun are valuable native trees. They can provide shade and shelter for birds and other organisms. They also contribute to a healthier campus environment.

The programme was more than just planting trees. It was a small step towards building a greener and more nature-friendly university campus.

LINERC believes that tree plantation should be followed by proper care and maintenance. The planted trees will need regular attention to grow well and survive.

The joint initiative of Rotary Club Banani and LINERC reflects the importance of working together for nature and the environment.

One hundred trees were planted on that day. With proper care, they will become part of the green landscape of Rajshahi University for years to come.
